Delgado Announces Significant Federal Funding to Improve Sullivan Airport Runway

Today, Representative Antonio Delgado (NY-19) announced $3,602,134.00 in federal funding to rehabilitate the runway at Sullivan County International Airport in Monticello. This funding was a product of the Department of Transportation's Airport Improvement Program (AIP). The AIP provides grants to public agencies, and some private partners, for the planning and development of public-use airports.

"Sullivan County International Airport connects the Catskills to the world, and I am pleased to announce significant federal funding that will allow them to revitalize their runway and grow operations in the area." Delgado continued, "investing in our infrastructure is key to developing our economy, creating jobs, and attracting businesses to Sullivan County, and improving Sullivan Airport's runway will allow them to continue to run efficiently. I will keep advocating for investments in our rural infrastructure to ensure upstate businesses and residents remain connected to the global economy."

"These funds will go toward a complete repave of the runway at our Airport, enabling us to sustain the growth we've been experiencing in operations there," said District 7 Legislator Joe Perrello, chair of the Legislature's Public Works Committee. "At just over a mile long, our runway hasn't been completely rehabilitated like this in 20 years, and thanks to Congressman Delgado and his team, it will better serve an increasing amount of traffic for decades to come."

Rep. Delgado has consistently advocated for rural infrastructure projects as a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. In June, Sullivan County International Airport received $225,000 in funding to rehabilitate their taxiway.
