Congressman Armstrong holds USMCA roundtable with North Dakota agriculture stakeholders

Congressman Kelly Armstrong held a roundtable discussion today with key agriculture stakeholders on the United States' proposed trade deal with Mexico and Canada, the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).

Joined by Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring and two dozen farmers and stakeholders on the North Dakota State University campus, Armstrong stressed that finalizing this trade agreement is one of his top priorities this fall -- if Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will allow it to come up for a vote.

"If it came up for a vote today, it would pass," Armstrong (R, N.D.) said. "We just need the Democratic leaders to schedule the vote."

"Our farmers and ranchers are relying on this deal to update and solidify our country's trading relationship with our top export partners, Canada and Mexico," Armstrong continued. "Beyond the direct trade relationship with Mexico and Canada, finalizing USMCA is essential to supporting positive momentum in other trade negotiations, including those with China and the European Union."

Armstrong is serving his first term representing the state of North Dakota in the U.S. House of Representatives.
