Westerman Joins Perdue, Hutchinson, for Shared Stewardship Agreement Signing

Statement

Date: Sept. 4, 2019

Today, U.S. Rep. Bruce Westerman (R-Ark.) joined Gov. Asa Hutchinson and Department of Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue as they signed a Shared Stewardship agreement. U.S. Reps. French Hill (R-Ark.) and Rick Crawford (R-Ark.) were also in attendance. Westerman issued the following statement:

"The federal government cannot possibly oversee every aspect of American agriculture effectively, which is why the Forest Service's Shared Stewardship Strategy is so important. Local stakeholders and officials are far more equipped to meet needs on the ground, protect wildland urban interfaces and enact best practices. This community involvement is best for long-term forest health. I'm so glad to see Arkansas collaborating with USFS, and hope this is the start of many more effective partnerships to come.
