Gov. Ricketts Cuts Ribbon, Celebrates Shorter Wait Times at New North Omaha DMV Location

Today, Governor Pete Ricketts officially marked the opening of the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) North Omaha location during a ribbon cutting ceremony. In brief remarks, he highlighted the ongoing customer-service improvements in the metro area and the success of the new location.

"Thanks to our new location, customers are saving an average of over 19 minutes per visit," said Gov. Ricketts. "The new North Omaha Express Office means Omaha metro residents will have a 67% shorter wait time at the DMV. This new office is another great example of how we are improving government services to provide Nebraskans with an even more effective and efficient customer experience."

The new service center opened mid-June 2019, replacing the previous location at 7414 N 30th Street. The North Omaha location has served over 6,000 customers since opening. The new location continues the transformation of DMV service delivery in Nebraska. It allows customers to complete their entire transaction at one place instead of paying for their license separately at the County Treasurer's office.

"Seeking new ways to continually improve the experience of our customers is ingrained in the culture of the DMV," said Rhonda Lahm, Nebraska DMV Director. "We are excited to continue the rollout of improvements in the Omaha metro area. I encourage customers to take advantage of the shorter wait times at our new offices and to make use of online services at dmv.nebraska.gov to ensure maximum convenience."

The DMV plans to open a new West Omaha location early in 2020.
