McConnell Helps Bring Rural Health Center to Marion County

Statement

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) announced today the Cumberland Family Medical Center (CFMC) received a $650,000 competitive federal grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration's (HRSA) New Access Points (NAP) program. CFMC, a non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center serving hundreds of thousands of patients each year, plans to use the federal resources to expand its services into Marion County with a satellite office, providing much-needed medical care to underserved and vulnerable families in the region.

Senator McConnell contacted HRSA in support of his constituents' grant application and their mission to expand access to affordable and quality health care in rural communities in Kentucky.

"The federal grant resources announced today will enhance the Cumberland Family Medical Center's ability to care for Kentucky families in need, and I was proud to help deliver them for our Commonwealth," said Senator McConnell. "Expanding medical services to underserved communities will promote positive outcomes for patients and lead to a healthier Commonwealth. As Senate Majority Leader, it's my job to look out for rural America, most importantly here in Kentucky. I was glad to help secure this grant, and I look forward to the benefits the new health-care facility will have for families in our state."
