Graves Announces Funding For Rural North Missouri Bridges

U.S. Representative Sam Graves (MO-06), announced today that the Missouri Department of Transportation will receive federal money through the Competitive Highway Bridge Program (CHBP). Graves received notification from the U.S. Department of Transportation that MODOT will receive $20.7 million for their proposed Fixing Access to Rural Missouri (FARM) Bridge Program. All bridges proposed to be replaced by the program are located in MODOT's Northwest and Northeast Districts.

"The State of Missouri suffers from a large number of structurally deficient bridges, many of which are in my district. Replacing these structures consumes a large amount of transportation funding, taking away from other important projects. Securing additional funding for rural roads and bridges has always been a top priority of mine because it is so critical to the communities in my district. I'm thrilled that MODOT's application was approved and I appreciate the Administration's continued support for rural Missouri," said Rep. Graves.

"These bridges are critical to the movement of goods and services in North Missouri. Weight restrictions and lane reductions on farm-to-market roads adversely affect our farm implements, school buses and emergency vehicles. I applaud MODOT's focus on replacing these bridges and I look forward to seeing them constructed for the continued safety and economic vitality of North Missouri."
