Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, Ph.D. (NC-12) released the following statement on the death of author Toni Morrison.

"I am deeply saddened to hear of Toni Morrison's passing. We have lost one of the greatest authors of our time -- a prolific writer who gave voice to the African American story. Her work changed our culture, beautifully explored black identity in America, and empowered others to tell their own stories. Toni Morrison's words and legacy will continue to inspire Americans, and people around the world, for generations to come."
