Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today praised USTR's action to block illegal timber imports from Peru:

"I applaud Ambassador Lighthizer and the USTR team for taking strong action to protect U.S. jobs and safeguard protected forests by fighting illegal logging in Peru. It is critical that we ensure our trade agreements, including the NAFTA update, create a truly level playing field for U.S. workers -- the forestry provisions in the Peru agreement are one model for making that happen."
