Today, U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), chairman of the Senate Commerce Subcommittee on Transportation and Safety, released the following statement after the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee introduced the America's Transportation Infrastructure Act:
"I applaud Chairman Barrasso for releasing a bill that maintains the formula funding structure, which provides certainty to states like Nebraska. I look forward to continuing to work on this critical piece of legislation that would help rebuild America's roads and keep our communities connected."
More from the EPW Committee on this legislation:
The bill authorizes $287 billion over five years, including $259 billion for formula funding programs to maintain and repair America's roads and bridges. The total represents an increase of over 27 percent from FAST Act levels. The legislation includes provisions to improve road safety, streamline project delivery, protect the environment and grow the economy. The committee leaders agree the legislation will be paid for.
