"This morning I joined @SenBrianSchatz and @ELPCenter at @shedd_aquarium to talk about the impacts of climate change on Lake Michigan. We must fund and support key projects such as the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative to target threats to the Great Lakes' ecosystems."

"Climate change is already affecting water quality, health, infrastructure, agriculture, and tourism in the Great Lakes Region. Illinois is especially vulnerable to climate change, with 72,200 farms and 75% of the State's lands being used for agriculture production."

"The Great Lakes will experience more habitat loss from lake temperature and oxygen changes as well as increased summer evaporation rates. The western shore of Lake Michigan will be subject to serious erosion from storm runoff, threatening property and infrastructure."
