LaHood Applauds USTR Investigation into France's Digital Services Tax

Congressman Darin LaHood (IL-18) issued the following statement after the U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer announced that they are opening a Section 301 investigation into France's proposed digital services tax that targets U.S. companies.

"Earlier this year, I led my colleagues in urging the Administration to forcefully engage France on their unacceptable digital services tax and I applaud USTR for taking this step today" stated LaHood. "Efforts by the French and other European countries contradict longstanding global consensus-based OECD practices and are designed specifically to target American businesses. These actions are unacceptable, and I will continue to work with my colleagues and the Administration make it known that these practices won't stand."
