Womack Statement on Politicization of the NDAA

Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) released the following statement after House Democrats politicized the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which is historically a bipartisan initiative that supports our national defense, to pass a partisan version of the bill. With today's vote, the House version of the NDAA received its lowest level of support since 1973. Comparatively, the Senate voted on a bipartisan package, which passed 86-to-
"I regret the fact that House Democrats used the bill that authorizes funding for our military to appease the most extreme elements of their party, putting politics ahead of national security. The bill won't become law, and our men and women in uniform deserve better. It weakens our military readiness in a time of increasing threats around the world. It's an abdication of our constitutional duty in providing for the common defense, and I am disappointed that fifty-eight years of bipartisan precedence was hijacked by partisanship.
