Nomination of Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court
Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (Conn.-3) today issued the following statement on the nomination of federal appellate court Judge Samuel Alito to the U.S. Supreme Court.
"In selecting a nominee to replace Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, the president had an opportunity to choose a jurist that would unify the country and uphold the Constitution for the good of all Americans. The president squandered that opportunity with this nomination by selecting an individual with credentials that divide the country.
"The Judiciary Committee process will help determine whether Samuel Alito deserves a lifetime seat on the Supreme Court."
