"While Pres. Trump & Republicans are attacking the Affordable Care Act in court, we must remember the real-life implications of eliminating this law.

Yesterday on the steps of the Capitol, I held up this picture of Frank and Heidi Yerbic, from Peoria, IL, on their wedding day."

"In 2015, while in between jobs, Frank suffered from a rare & serious condition called Type A Aortic Dissection that tore a hole in his aorta. Thankfully, the Yerbics had the presence of mind & opportunity to enroll in a health plan through the ACA marketplace."

"Without the ACA, the Yerbics would never have been able to afford the life-saving surgery Frank needed, along with the many follow-up appointments and meds. Frank now gets insurance through his employer, but thanks to the ACA, he can't be denied due to his pre-existing condition."

"For so many people, the ACA is the difference between life and death -- between insurance coverage and 7-figure medical debt."

"Remember this: Republicans have no plan, whatsoever, to replace the ACA. If they succeed at repealing this law in the courts, they'll be abandoning families in need, just like the Yerbics."
