U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA), the top Democrat on the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, today released the following statement after the Supreme Court ruled the Department of Commerce failed to give a full and true explanation for its decision to add a question about citizenship:

"Wilbur Ross was wrong. Every person must be counted -- that's what the Constitution requires. We need full participation and no communities should feel intimidated or disenfranchised. It is critical to our democracy."
