On Thursday, President Donald Trump approved a Major Disaster Declaration for the State of Kansas, triggering federal funds to help communities recover from severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes and flooding that have occurred over the past two months. Last week Rep. Roger Marshall, M.D. led a bi-partisan letter from all Members of the Kansas House delegation encouraging the administration to approve Governor Laura Kelly's request for federal assistance.
"I am applaud President Trump's swift action in approving this disaster declaration and delivering much needed funding and resources for our Kansas rebuilding from multiple rounds of flooding and severe weather," Marshall said "I know many counties suffered substantial infrastructure damage and am hopeful this funding goes a long way in helping communities rebuild."
This week's announcement makes the entire State of Kansas eligible for FEMA Hazard Mitigation Funds to prepare for future natural disasters and funds to help designated counties begin repairing and rebuilding infrastructure, utilities and community facilities.
Additionally, the following counties are eligible for FEMA Public Assistance funds and Disaster Loan Assistance through the U.S. Small Business Administration:
