"Yesterday, I spoke with Acting DHS Secretary McAleenan and met with the newly announced CBP Acting Commissioner Mark Morgan about the inhumane and detestable conditions at our southwest border, as well as Pres. Trump's threats of mass raids and deportations."

"As of yesterday, these 2 men are in charge of solving the humanitarian crisis that Pres. Trump has created at our border.

He can shuffle the deck chairs on the Titanic, but we must acknowledge the obvious -- Pres. Trump's immigration & border security policies are a failure."

"For the last 2.5 years, the Trump Admin has shown unprecedented cruelty to immigrants -- especially children -- and has wildly swung from one immigration scandal to the next: Muslim travel ban, repeal of DACA, termination of TPS, & disastrous separation of thousands of families."

"And now we hear horrific stories of children being denied soap and toothbrushes and little 11-year-old girls being asked to care for toddlers.

Despite President Trump's tough talk, our southern border today is much less secure than when he took office."

"Last night, the House of Representatives passed legislation to ensure that the migrants who come to our border are treated humanely.

Now the Senate has a responsibility to address the humanitarian crisis that President Trump has created."
