Rep. Boozman Encourages Arkanasans to Support Alito Nomination
Lone Republican in AR delegation calls for swift confirmation

Washington, Nov 2 - U.S. Representative John Boozman (R-AR) today issued the following statement supporting the nomination of Judge Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court:

"Arkansans want the vacancy on the Supreme Court to be filled by someone who will interpret the law, not try to legislate from the bench. Judge Alito has a record of strictly interpreting the law. He is not a judge that will legislate from the bench or create new policies based on personal opinion."

"Judge Alito was unanimously confirmed to the U.S. Court of Appeals and has since served there for fifteen years. The Senate didn't play political games during his confirmation process then and shouldn't now. They should move swiftly to confirm his nomination."

"When the president picked Judge Alito, he picked a very qualified and distinguished jurist. By all accounts, he is a fair and impartial judge. It is my hope that his nomination will be treated with the same fairness that Judge Roberts' nomination received."
