Representative Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) issued the following statement today on passage of a $19.1B disaster aid package. The legislation was approved by a 354-58 vote.

"After multiple delays put up by House Republicans, I was proud to join my colleagues to finally pass a disaster relief measure that will provide funding for communities hit by various natural disasters across the country," said Rep. Adriano Espaillat (NY-13).

"The package will include more than $900 million in critical aid to Puerto Rico that was initially opposed by President Trump, and I'm glad this package did not include any additional funding for the administration's fabricated "border emergency.'

"The American citizens of Puerto Rico have suffered far too long in the face of Republican reticence and it is my hope that this $19.1 billion disaster aid package will help Puerto Rico and other impacted communities rebuild their lives following this humanitarian crisis that has proven far greater than we ever imagined."
