Rep. Elissa Slotkin Launches Title IX District Advisory Board, Convenes Healthcare and Seniors Boards

U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin (MI-08) yesterday convened a joint meeting of her Healthcare and Seniors district advisory boards, as well as the inaugural meeting of her Title IX district advisory board. Slotkin sought input from board members on upcoming bills she is introducing this month to help lower the price of prescription drugs and prevent sexual assault.

Slotkin has launched four district advisory boards (healthcare, seniors, veterans, and Title IX) comprised of issue experts and community members from across the 8th district, whose feedback she uses to shape legislation on relevant issues in Congress.

"Over 45 people spent a beautiful Sunday afternoon helping me hash out the details of bills I am working on," Slotkin said. "The groups included a broad spectrum: from doctors and dentists to patients and pharmacists who lent their insight on healthcare and seniors' issues, as well as survivors, advocates and legal experts who brought forth their expertise on Title IX and sexual assault."

"I can't tell you how helpful it was to hear their real-world insights ---- from how much it would impact seniors and families to allow Medicare to negotiate for drugs in bulk and tackle the sky-high price of insulin, to raising awareness around mandatory reporting requirements and the need for K-12 consent education. Good policy can't happen in a vacuum, so I will continue to work to grow these connections. Thank you to all who came!"
