MATSUI STATEMENT ON THE DEATH OF ROSA PARKS

Tuesday, October 25, 2005

Washington, DC - Congresswoman Doris O. Matsui (CA-5) released the following statement on the death of Rosa Parks:

"Our nation mourns the loss of Rosa Parks, who with a simple act became a catalyst - launching the modern-day civil rights movement. Through her brave actions, we truly saw that one person can indeed make a difference. Rosa Parks sat down so others could stand up and for that single act of disobedience, our nation is forever changed and importantly, forever grateful.

"My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends at this time of loss."
