Senator Kevin Cramer Announces EPA Has Approved Emergency Exemptions for North Dakota Sugar Beets Producers

Statement

Date: May 31, 2019
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator and member of the Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.) issued the following statement regarding the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approving Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) section 18 emergency exemptions for sugar beets in North Dakota:

"Today the EPA approved requests to use the fungicide mefentrifluconazole to protect sugar beets. The product will be available in mid-June, as producers in North Dakota requested. Without this, producers run the risk of losing their crops and the ability to store them. I applaud Administrator Wheeler for listening to the needs of our state's producers."
