U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee and the chairman of the Subcommittee on Strategic Forces, released the following statement today after learning that President Trump intends to nominate Acting Secretary of Defense Patrick Shanahan as Secretary of Defense:
"As a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, I have enjoyed working with Acting Secretary Shanahan over the past two years on a strong national defense. I appreciate the time he has taken to build relationships with members of the U.S. Senate. I look forward to carefully reviewing his nomination as the confirmation process moves forward."
