Rep. Cline Signs Discharge Petition for Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act

Congressman Ben Cline (VA-06) today signed a discharge petition to force a vote on the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. GOP leaders in the House have requested a vote 25 different times since January, which Speaker Nancy Pelosi has refused to allow.

"I was proud to stand with my House colleagues today and speak on behalf of those who have no voice. The Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act extends legal protections to infants who survive an abortion procedure, including the right to receive medical care. We have seen a concerted effort this year to expand abortion up to and beyond the point of birth in the Commonwealth and other states. That is why it is time to vote on this important legislation and declare that we are a nation that stands against infanticide."

A discharge petition needs 218 signatures to force a floor vote on a specific bill.

Congressman Ben Cline became the 35th Congressman to represent the Sixth District of Virginia in 2019. He served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2002 to 2018. Cline and his wife, Elizabeth, have two daughters.
