Rep. Calvert Takes Action to Protect Life

Statement

Date: April 2, 2019
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Reproduction

Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-42) signed the Born Alive Discharge Petition to force a vote in the House of Representatives on Congresswoman Ann Wagner's (MO-2) Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, H.R. 962. If a majority of the House signs the petition, Speaker Nancy Pelosi will be forced to bring the Born Alive Act to the House floor for a full debate and vote.

"I am a cosponsor of the Born Alive Act because there's no moral justification for legalizing infanticide," said Rep. Calvert. "If we lack the humanity to protect living, breathing infants outside of the womb of its mother, then I'm deeply concerned about the future of our society. We must place a value on life and find the courage to defend it -- especially when it's most vulnerable."
