SENATOR LISA MURKOWSKI'S STATEMENT ON THE WITHDRAWAL OF SUPREME COURT NOMINEE HARRIET MIERS

Today, Sen. Lisa Murkowski made the following statement regarding the withdrawal of White House Counsel Harriet Miers to be an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court:

"I respect Harriet Miers' decision to withdraw her nomination to be the next Associate Justice of the Supreme Court. It must have been a difficult decision and I think it is unfortunate that Harriet Miers did not have an opportunity to make her case in hearings before the Senate Judiciary Committee. "I look forward to consulting with the White House and my colleagues on the next steps to a fair and expeditious confirmation process."
