Ranking Member Womack Statement On Committee Democrats' Approval Of Caps Bill

House Budget Committee Ranking Member Steve Womack (R-AR) released the following statement after Budget Committee Democrats voted to approve legislation to raise discretionary spending caps in lieu of drafting a budget resolution.

"I'm disappointed with my colleagues across the aisle. Instead of doing their actual job of writing a budget resolution, they decided to take a short cut, passing a proposal to raise discretionary caps, without the key ingredients needed for a successful agreement -- including a plan to pay for it. What's even more concerning is that House Democrats seem confused and dangerously divided over defense spending -- a dynamic that was on full display today. House Republicans, on the other hand, fully recognize the consequences of underfunding our men and women in uniform.

"We have real fiscal problems that threaten our economic prosperity and national security. Addressing those challenges requires the leadership and courage to make tough choices. I commend my fellow Republicans for demonstrating those qualities throughout this process. We will continue to advocate for solutions that protect our military, strengthen our economy, and put our fiscal house in order."
