Today, Ranking Member Steve Womack (R-AR) issued the following statement after the announcement of a markup on discretionary spending caps legislation:
"House Democrats are in disarray. Some are advocating for tax hikes and defense spending cuts. Some are proposing multi-trillion-dollar programs that will bust the federal budget while others are raising concerns over our soaring national debt. Their agenda is so full of contradictions that they're unable to govern. Not only have they failed to fulfill the chief responsibility of the Budget Committee -- drafting a budget resolution -- they are struggling to determine their position on discretionary spending caps.
"Historically caps deals have been bipartisan, bicameral, supported by the White House, and offset with mandatory savings. It is my hope that House Democrats figure this out soon."
