Congressman Kelly Armstrong's Statement on Special Counsel's Report

Statement

Congressman Kelly Armstrong (R, N.D.), a member of the House Judiciary Committee, released the following statement regarding Attorney General William Barr's letter to Congress regarding the Special Counsel's report on Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election:

"The liberal fantasy that President Trump or his campaign colluded with Russia in the 2016 election is dead. The Special Counsel's report states that "[t]he investigation did not establish that members of the Trump Campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government' to interfere with the election.

"This determination was reached after a two-year investigation involving over 50 members of the Special Counsel's Office, which issued 2,800 subpoenas, 500 search warrants, 230 communications record requests, 50 phone taps, 13 information requests to foreign governments, and interviewed 500 witness, all costing taxpayers millions of dollars. The Special Counsel conducted a limitless investigation that exonerates the President and his campaign of collusion.

"It is time for Congress to realign its priorities to those of the American people. We must end these partisan games and return to the real work of growing the economy, addressing the border crisis, and finalizing trade deals that put Americans first."

Armstrong is in his first term as the lone representative for the state of North Dakota in the U.S. House of Representatives.
