Foster Statement on Equality Act

Press Release

Date: March 13, 2019
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) issued a statement in support of the Equality Act introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives today:

"I am proud to support the Equality Act. No one should face discrimination because of who they are or who they love. It is, unfortunately, still legal in 30 states to discriminate based on gender or sexual identity. That's why we need the Equality Act to expand protections at the federal level to ensure that that no one in this country faces discrimination. The Equality Act would update federal law to specifically protect sexual orientation and gender identity and prohibit discrimination in key areas like employment, housing, education, public accommodations, and federally funded programs. Every person has the right to be treated equally under the law."
