Rep. Veasey Hosts Speaker Pelosi for a Discussion at Fort Worth Young Women's Leadership Academy

Today, Congressman Marc Veasey (TX-33) welcomed Speaker Pelosi to the Young Women's Leadership Academy in Fort Worth, as they took part in a discussion led by YWLA principal Tamara Albury, to highlight the school's success in inspiring and nurturing young diverse female leaders within the community. With a focus on empowering young women in math, science, and technology, the school prepares students with the academic and leadership skills they need to distinguish themselves as they aim to pursue higher education and careers in STEM fields.
"These young women set the standard high for this future generation of change seekers," said Congressman Veasey. "It was a pleasure to spend the morning with an inspiring diverse group of future female leaders who look to Speaker Pelosi as an example of what successful, confident women can achieve. The teachers and school administrators at the Young Women Leadership Academy have prepared these students to continue to challenge themselves academically and professionally and to never settle for the status quo."

As Fort Worth Independent School District's first single-gender school, the Young Women's Leadership Academy curriculum is based on the success and best practices of proven models like the Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders in Austin and Young Women's Leadership Schools in East Harlem and Queens, New York. In 2016, the school was named a Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education to recognize its high-achieving students and rigorous coursework.
