Walberg's Bipartisan Energy Law Goes Into Effect

Today, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) implemented new reforms to the Federal Power Act as directed by a bipartisan law authored by Representatives Tim Walberg (MI-07) and Debbie Dingell (MI-12). Signed into law by President Trump in October 2018, Walberg's legislation (H.R. 1109) helps streamline FERC's regulatory review process, allowing the agency to focus on its mission of affordable and reliable energy.

"I am pleased to see FERC officially adopt these commonsense reforms as result of our bipartisan legislation," said Walberg. "By applying a consistent standard for FERC's reviews, we can reduce excessive paperwork burdens and ultimately save money for consumers in Michigan."

H.R. 1109 amends the Federal Power Act to ensure all energy transactions under FERC's jurisdiction are subject to the same review standard, bringing the threshold for mergers and consolidations into line with other categories.
