Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (FL-25) issued the following statement after the Bureau of Economic Analysis released its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) report for the fourth quarter of 2018. The U.S. economy grew at an annual rate of 2.6 percent in the fourth quarter, which brought 2018 annual growth to 2.9%.
"The fourth quarter GDP report is a continued sign of our growing economy. An average of 223,000 jobs were added monthly in 2018 -- that's 223,000 more opportunities at the American dream offered to hardworking individuals every 30 days. I am proud of the pro-growth policies I have championed with my House Republican colleagues. While Democratic leadership considers job-slashing and debt-increasing policies, I urge them to reach across the aisle to work in a bipartisan manner and provide real solutions for American families."
