Golden Calls on Negotiators to Compromise & Avert Shutdown, Recommits to Federal Workers

Statement

Date: Feb. 11, 2019
Location: Washington, DC

Following news that talks to keep the government open had broken down, U.S. Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) urged congressional negotiators today to come back to the table and make a deal.

"Enough is enough," said Golden. "Both parties have to put the needs of the country above politics. Republicans need to stop moving the goalposts and Democrats need to stop drawing lines in the sand. The American people, myself included, are frustrated with Congress and the president and we're angry at the harm inflicted on federal workers and their families. Shutdown or not, I'll continue to fight for federal workers affected by Washington's dysfunction."
