Congressman Greg Gianforte responded tonight to President Trump's State of the Union address, echoing the president's call for Republicans and Democrats to put aside differences and work together to produce results.
"President Trump is right -- we must come together to address the challenges facing our country. Republicans and Democrats should do what we did last year -- come together to deliver results for the American people," Gianforte said.
Gianforte pointed to examples of bipartisan successes from 2018, including enacting a new Farm Bill, rebuilding our military, reforming the VA, as well as combating illegal drugs and human trafficking.
Gianforte identified issues where Republicans and Democrats should work together, saying, "We should take a similar path to make health care more affordable and accessible, lower prescription drug prices, and increase access to broadband, particularly in our rural communities. We also need to work together to secure the border."
Gianforte vowed to continue putting Montana first, saying, "As we look at the year ahead, I'll continue working with the president, Republicans, and Democrats to deliver results that help hardworking Montana families in every corner of our state."
