Congressman Biggs' Statement on $22 Trillion National Debt

Today, the national debt reached $22 trillion dollars for the first time in history. Congressman Biggs released the following statement:

"We have a fundamental spending issue in this country and until both parties realize the urgent need to cut our spending and balance our budget, our nation's finances will continue to spiral out of control. If we do not change our course, we will be responsible for one of the worse catastrophes this nation has ever experienced: the crash of the American economy and the demise of a superpower. I will soon be reintroducing a resolution recognizing the national debt as a threat to America's national security, calling on Congress to restore regular order in the appropriations process and to pass a balanced budget."
