Sen. Rick Scott: Congress Shouldn't Get Paid During Government Shutdown

Statement

Date: Jan. 17, 2019
Location: Washington, DC

This morning, Senator Rick Scott held a press conference on the ongoing dysfunction in Washington. In addition to fighting to ensure the U.S. Coast Guard gets paid during the shutdown, Senator Scott announced his co-sponsorship of Senator Braun's "No Budget, No Pay' bill. If Congress cannot work together to pass a budget, they should not be getting paid - a key component of Senator Scott's 10-point plan to make Washington work for families. Senator Scott also urged Congress to stay in session until they get a deal done to re-open government and make real progress to secure the border.
