Rep. Lou Correa Presses AG Whitaker On Rising White Supremacist Terror Threat

Statement

Today, Congressman Lou Correa (CA-46) asked Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker about the prevalence of White Nationalism and White Supremacist terrorism in the United States. Congressman Correa was the first Member of Congress to call for a hearing following the terrorist attack in Charlottesville-renewing his call after the shooting at Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh. He has continuously urged his colleagues to do more to address the rise of White Supremacist terror threats in the United States.

Rep. Correa said, "Our country has a homegrown terrorism problem we refuse to address, and innocent Americans are dying. That must end. AG Whitaker's responses today did not convince me that we are doing enough to address this threat.

"We must hold hearings into the spread of white supremacist extremism and the violence associated with it, and finally address that terrorism inflicted by white supremacy extremists is destroying our country."
