Congressman Gonzalez Announces $11.8 Million in Preliminary Title I Allocations for South Texas School Districts

Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) today announced $11,860,322 in preliminary Fiscal Year 2019 (FY19) Title I formula allocations funds for Local Educational Agencies (LEA) in the 15th District of Texas. The U.S. Department of Education will release final totals in June 2019.

Title I funding provides for the expansion and development of educational programs that are fair and equal. These funds also support schools in the creation of opportunities for student success.

"Every child in 15th District of Texas deserves access to opportunities and educational resources that set them up for success," Congressman Gonzalez said. "It is imperative that schools receive adequate funding for these comprehensive educational programs. It is my hope that the federal funds will allow our schools to meet and exceed the educational goals and objectives in school districts across South Texas."

The U.S. Department of Education (ED) expects to release final allocations in June of this year. Final numbers will differ from the preliminary allocations because of updates to the annually collected counts of children in locally operated institutions for neglected or delinquent children, in foster homes, and in families above the Census poverty line that receive assistance under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program (non-Census formula children data) and to LEA finance data used in the Education Finance Incentive Grants formula. There may be additional differences if a State were to report revisions to its State Per-Pupil Expenditure (SPPE) data.

Congressman Gonzalez continues to be an advocate for every child in the 15th District of Texas and will work to bring additional funding to schools across South Texas.
