Rep. Adriano Espaillat Statement on Delayed Flights and Airport Closures Due to Shutdown

Today, Representative Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) released the following statement following reports from the FAA that flights have been halted at LaGuardia Airport due to the Trump Shutdown.

"Today's report that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is delaying flights at major airports due to staffing shortages is an immediate and direct result of President Trump's disconnectedness from the American public and his failure to fully understand that his actions and inactions have real consequences," said Rep. Adriano Espaillat (NY-13).

"It's day 35 of the Trump shutdown and 800,000 federal employees and millions of Americans are feeling the impact on a daily basis. It is far past time for President Trump and Republicans to stop their pettiness and come to the table to sensibly negotiate with Democrats to find real solutions to reopen the government and get federal employees back to work and government facilities and services back in operations. This shutdown puts our national security at stake, causing major transit systems to halt and impacting millions of Americans."
