Today, U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen released the following statement regarding the detainment of Roxana Orellana Santos.
"ICE's decision to detain Ms. Santos is deeply disturbing -- this mother of four fled violence in El Salvador seeking a safer life for herself and her family. Ms. Santos was arrested without just cause and has since been vindicated in a federal court case. Ms. Santos has routinely complied with ICE and is currently working through the system to obtain legal residency. This is a clear example of our broken immigration system, and I urge ICE to reconsider this very misguided decision."
