Jenniffer González is Sworn in at Her Second Congress

Statement

Resident Commissioner Jenniffer González Colón was sworn in today, again as the representative of Puerto Rico before the House of Representatives of the United States at the opening of Congress number 116. The new Speaker Nancy Pelosi took her oath where she was accompanied by her mother and close relatives.

"In January 2017 we started a road full of many challenges, immediately we mapped a path of opportunities and began to fulfill our word with you. We work with all the congressmen without distinction of party, as a result of that Puerto Rico obtained the historic allocation of federal funds never seen, we approved measures that assured the Medicaid for our people and unite wills to approve legislation in benefit of our veterans. The resident commissioner will be part of the Congress with the largest number of women in history. For this new 116th Congress, González Colón will continue to strengthen ties with all the congressmen to address health issues, recovery and reconstruction funds, veterans and infrastructure, among others.

Next week the committees will be announced, of which the resident commissioner will participate in the work of the Congress 116.
