Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04), Ranking Member of the House Rules Committee, released the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives approved H. Res. 6, Adopting the Rules of the House for the One Hundred Sixteenth Congress - Title I. Cole opposed the package offered by Democrats.

"While there are certainly some good ideas included, the new House rules set forth by Democrats do not provide the best way to govern in our chamber. Especially in divided government, members on both sides of the aisle deserve to be heard. Unfortunately, this rules package primarily reflects Democratic priorities and interests. For that reason, it falls short of supporting a true spirit of bipartisanship and encouraging transparency."
