Statement by Congressman Ed Case on the passing of Mr. John Mink

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Ed Case (Hawaii, 2nd District) today issued the following statement on the passing of Mr. John Mink.

"All of our Hawaii joins the Mink ohana in mourning the passing of John Mink. John was best known to most as the rock on which his wife of 50 years, the late Congresswoman Patsy Mink, rested her legendary public career. All who knew them could not help but admire their incredible marriage and partnership in love and life. Less known were that he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for service in World War II, and earned respect and renown in his own right as a world-class hydrologist whose expertise was sought throughout Hawaii and the world.

"Kind, gracious, humble, honest and devoted, John Mink will be remembered as a decent and committed man. Our Hawaii has lost a truly great citizen, and our hearts go out to daughter Wendy and all members of John's family."
