SCHUMER: Elimination of State/Local Tax Deductibility a Dagger to Heart of NYers

Today, Sen. Chuck Schumer, a member of the Senate Finance Committee, released the following statement on today's proposal to eliminate the state and local tax deduction by the bipartisan panel on taxes that President Bush appointed:

"It is hard to conceive of something that could hurt New York more than the elimination of state and local tax deductibility. It will dramatically affect all New Yorkers. It is a dagger to the heart of the people on New York. It would impose a new $12 billion tax on the people of New York. We will do everything in our power to defeat this pernicious proposal."
