Schumer on Miers' Questionnaire

Statement from Sen. Chuck Schumer, ranking Democrat on the Judiciary Subcommittee on the Courts, released the following statement on the questionnaire submitted by Supreme Court nominee Harriet Miers:

"The questionnaire was bipartisan and reasonable, but the answers are disappointing, spare, and unilluminating. This questionnaire should have been completed with care and candor but it seems to be a bit rushed and not as carefully prepared as one would hope. The part of Harriet Miers career that would have been most instructive about her judicial philosophy and views, her service in the White House, is virtually blank."
