SENATOR CHAFEE STATEMENT ON THE
DEATH OF JACK WHITE

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Lincoln Chafee has been notified of the death of
Jack White while monitoring elections in Liberia. He made the following comments:
"It is hard to believe and too sad for words to learn of Jack's passing. I will remember
him as a man who loved his family, the business of gathering and reporting the news, and
his retreat on Cape Cod. He leaves a legacy of fair and responsible journalism. My
heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends."
