Rep. Bacon Issues Statement on Russian Aggression

Statement

Congressman Don Bacon (NE-02) issued the following statement regarding recent Russian aggression against Ukraine:

"Russia once again is using military force and intimidation against its neighbor, Ukraine. The attacks on Ukraine's Navy are typical of the bully Vladimir Putin, and are a continuation of Russian aggression we saw in Crimea and in the Donetsk region. This is a reminder of why we need a strong alliance with NATO and an active American presence in the Baltic states and Poland, and with our other NATO partners in Eastern Europe. I support deepening our ties and friendship with Ukraine so that it can maintain the independence it gained when the Cold War ended. The Ukrainians want freedom and independence, and we stand with them."
