President Barack Obama Headlines Get Out The Vote Rally with Illinois Democrats

Today, President Barack Obama headlined a GOTV rally at UIC Pavilion in Chicago featuring Academy and Grammy Award-winning artist Common and Democratic candidates running for office across the state.

Over 5,000 people joined the rally with JB Pritzker, Juliana Stratton, Kwame Raoul, Sean Casten, Lauren Underwood, and Democrats up and down the ballot who encouraged all Illinoisans to get out and vote on November 6th.

"In two days, Illinois, you get to vote in what might be the most important election of our lifetimes,"said President Barack Obama. "Healthcare for millions is on the ballot. A fair shake for working families is on the ballot. And most importantly, the character of our nation is on the ballot. We have seen repeated attempts to divide us, not bring us together. Rhetoric designed to turn us on each other. This is a very old playbook. When you vote, Illinois, you can reject that kind of politics. When you participate in the political process you can be a check on bad behavior. When you vote, you can choose hope over fear. You are part of the process of shifting the course of this country.

"That's what JB Pritzker stands for. That's what you can vote for on Tuesday. On Tuesday you can vote for a politics that is decent, a politics that is honest, a politics that is lawful, a politics that tries to do right by people. We should want to be kinder and more generous. We aren't going to be perfect, but we can be better than this. JB believes in that better America. Juliana believes in that better America."

"While the eight years of President Obama's leadership vaulted us forward, the last two years of Donald Trump have taken us backward," said JB Pritzker. "As I've traveled across the 102 counties of our state, I've seen everything that's good about Illinois, everything that's right about Illinois. It's the people of Illinois. Despite challenges and setbacks, Illinoisans persevere, push forward against all odds, and prove progress is always possible. We understand President Obama's belief that all of us can bring about real, meaningful change. And on November 6, that change will come to Illinois when we vote for Democrats up and down the ticket and create a blue wave like this state has never seen."

"For eight years, President Obama rose above the politics of division and divisiveness to show us there is no red or blue America -- there is only the United States of America," said Juliana Stratton. "Now more than ever, Illinois deserves leaders who share those values. I wake up every single day excited that I get to play some small role in kicking this governor and Illinois Republicans out of office. But this election isn't just about defeating Bruce Rauner, it's about who we are as Democrats and the things that we value and care about. "Donald Trump's words have created a dangerous environment across our country, and the policies that accompany them underscore that who we elect as attorney general matters more than any time in American history," said state Sen. Kwame Raoul, Democratic candidate for AG. "Attorneys general are stepping up both collectively and individually to fight Trump's divisive and threatening policies like trying to deprive millions of Americans affordable healthcare.
