Following the breaking Chicago Tribune story, "Trump and Rauner administrations knew about Sterigenics cancer risks months before telling public," JB Pritzker released the following statement:
"While a company Bruce Rauner owned continued to poison DuPage County, we now know that Rauner and Trump worked hand-in-hand to hide Sterigenics' highest-in-the-nation cancer risks from the public for eight months," said JB Pritzker. "In December 2017, when another lengthy cover up of a public health crisis in Quincy came to light, the Rauner administration was back-channeling with the Trump administration to do the same thing in Willowbrook. Both of these cases show a consistent pattern: Bruce Rauner putting his own personal interest over protecting public health. Keeping Illinoisans safe from Legionnaires' in Quincy or cancer-causing toxins in Willowbrook both took a back seat to preserving Rauner's image.
